Join the Northport Pipe and Drum Band in Huntington for a premiere screening of their new short documentary film and a live performance of traditional Irish Music and Scottish Highland Bagpipes! Huntington, NY: On Thursday, March 12th at 7:30, the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington will be hosting the debut screening of the locally produced documentary film, Bagpipes Calling! Long Island’s own Northport Pipe and Drum Band celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. The screening with be followed by a live performance of traditional Irish music & Scottish Highland Bagpipes, a Q&A with the filmmaker Andrea Wozny & the musicians, and a reception. Bagpipes Calling! Charts a day in the life of the Northport Pipe and Drum Band, led by filmmaker/musician Andrea Wozny as she explores the music and community of Irish Folk Musicians and Scottish Highland Bagpipers on Long Island. The film documents a group of passionate people from all walks of life who come together to play the pipes, culminating in the band’s performances for St. Patrick’s Day in Blue Point Long Island. This never-before-seen documentary honors the talent of Long Island folk musicians, while celebrating the warmth of local community. 30 Min.
